The Territorial Anti-Fraud Committee of Saint Martin (COTAF) has been operational for a year. In order to fight in particular against tax fraud and illegal work, controls will be multiplied on the territory.

The results of the Territorial Anti-Fraud Committee of Saint-Martin (COTAF) for this first year are satisfactory. Last Friday, all the state control services and those of the Collectivity met at the prefecture. According to Basse-Terre prosecutor Samuel Finielz, this meeting was "fruitful" since "the backbone of COTAF has been put in place". Mr. Finielz announced that control operations on certain priorities will take place soon, including tax evasion of the general turnover tax (TGCA) and false domiciliation in part French. "We have a number of companies that collect, but do not pay the TGCA," he said, adding that controls against hidden work will also be carried out on the island. For the year 2015, the border police (PAF) noted an increase of 31% relating to procedures concerning the employment of foreigners without a work permit.
