JUSTICE: The detached chamber becomes a local court

0

We no longer speak of a district court, a high court or a detached chamber. The justice reform entered into force on January 1, 2020 in France, including overseas.

In Basse-Terre, the district court and the district court were thus grouped together in a jurisdiction called the judicial court.

In Saint-Martin where there was a room detached from the TGI of Basse-Terre, it became a room of the judicial court or local court.

The Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy detached room was inaugurated on May 3, 2019 by the Minister of Justice, Nicole Belloubet after being created on January 1, 2016 by decree. It has been operating with its full powers since September 1, 2018. Since that date, all civil and criminal proceedings under Saint-Martin are processed in Saint-Martin and no longer in part in Basse-Terre and all the files that were in Guadeloupe were transferred to Saint-Martin. also from this date, it is possible to appeal a judgment in Saint-Martin, before the person had to go to Basse-Terre to do so.

Finally, Saint-Martin cannot for the moment have a court (ex TGI) because the territory does not have certain facilities, such as a prison. (soualigapost.com)
