A 41-year-old man, KR, was sentenced Thursday morning by the local court of Saint-Martin for acts of theft and violence.
The gendarmerie investigation showed that on the night of April 7, he climbed into an apartment in downtown Marigot, lay down next to the occupant who shouted when she woke up in warning light. While on the run, KR stole a game console, controllers and a headset. While waiting for the screams, two other men arrived and kept KR on the ground until the gendarmes arrived who discovered the stolen belongings nearby.
At the bar, KR denied the facts. "You have no evidence against me," he repeated a dozen times.
He claims that the other two men hit him. He was sentenced to ten months in prison, five of which were suspended and two fines of 200 euros each. The court received the victim's civil claim and ordered KR to pay him 500 euros for non-pecuniary damage. (soualigapost.com)
