History of slavery: towards the creation of a foundation

The Franco-Beninese economist Lionel Zinsou, former Prime Minister of Benin, recently presented his mission report on the memory of slavery, the drafts and their abolitions to Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, in the presence of the Minister for the Overseas Ericka Bareigts, in Paris. It was the President of the Republic François Hollande who had entrusted this mission to Mr. Zinsou. The Overseas Ministry announced that “the Prime Minister praised the high quality of the work accomplished and confirmed the creation of a public interest group (GIP) aimed at foreshadowing the creation of a Foundation recognized as a public utility , in accordance with the recommendations of the report submitted ”. This institution will examine potential sites to establish a “name memorial” and “a museum space”.
