After a lengthy investigation, the authorities have dismantled an important illegal immigration network. The prosecution of Guyana estimates that this sector was transporting, from the Brazilian border, a large number of illegal immigrants. Some of them were then transported to clandestine gold panning sites. Eight suspected Brazilian smugglers were arrested on November 24 in Macouria, Cayenne, Matoury and Kourou.
