The health watch bulletin (BVS) of November 2015 from the Antilles-Guyana interregional epidemiology unit (CIRE) summarizes the main characteristics of the influenza epidemics of the 2014-2015 season in the Antilles.

Concerning the Northern Islands, the epidemic peaks were observed at the end of January in Saint-Barthélemy, and during the third week of February in Saint-Martin, according to the bulletin. Over the duration of the epidemic, the total number of clinically suggestive cases is 400 for Saint-Barthélemy and 2.870 for Saint-Martin. As regards prevention, “the vaccine being well tolerated, it is important to convince the population at risk to be vaccinated to avoid the serious forms. Vaccination remains the first preventive measure ”, underlines CIRE.
