A man was shot and seriously injured in a New Years Day shooting in Maho. The crazed gunman eventually surrendered to the Philipsburg police station the day after the incident and was taken into custody.
The SJC man is suspected of shooting a gun on New Year's morning in the Maho area, where many visitors were still present to celebrate the New Year.
The shooting took place at 7 a.m. outside a bar where there were still many revelers. An altercation reportedly broke out between two men, with one of them firing a gun. The bullet lodged in the victim's lower body.
The assailant then ran away.
Several police patrols and paramedics were dispatched to the Maho Mall. On the spot, they supported the victim who was in critical condition. She was treated by ambulance personnel and rushed to Sint Maarten Medical Center in Cay Hill._AF
