Armed Forces in the Antilles: Operational training and regional cooperation for the 33rd RIMa in Antigua

0

From April 18 to 22, a section of the 33rd Marine Infantry Regiment (RIMa) was deployed to Antigua, with the assistance of a CASA transport aircraft from the Armed Forces in Guyana.

Hosted at Camp Blizard at the headquarters of the Antigua and Barbuda Defense Forces (ABDF), the 29 French soldiers lived in immersion with their counterparts. During a week, French and Antiguan soldiers thus exchanged their know-how, shared their knowledge of the Caribbean zone as well as the specificities relating to the islands of Antigua and Barbuda, and learned to work better together. On the program, armament instructions and firing sessions with the weapons used by the two armed forces, physical preparation, a reconnaissance march or even combat in urban areas.

These meetings between soldiers of the land forces are part of the continuity and complementarity of the bilateral exchanges that the armed forces are conducting in the Antilles with Antigua and Barbuda as part of a partnership between the two countries. _AF
