The police as well as firefighters were targeted by gunfire and projectile throws while they intervened on trash fires on the public highway in the district of Sainte-Thérèse in Fort-de-France, according to police sources.
“We intervened on trash fires in Sainte-Thérèse around 23:30 pm in support of the firefighters. We received projectiles. Other trash and vehicle fires were ignited at around 01:45 a.m., it was at this time that the patrols came under 9 mm gunfire on several occasions. Impacts were noted on the vehicles, ”said Commander Joël Larcher, communications manager for the departmental public security directorate of Fort-de-France.
