FOOTBALL / U20 World Cup Qualifiers in Florida, Concacaf area: The Saint-Martin selection continues its high-level learning!

Grenada: 5 - Saint Martin: 2

Despite real progress posted in the game against Mexico, the Saint-Martin selection recorded a new defeat, the day before yesterday evening, at the expense of Granada (5-2).

The start of the match was however ideal for Henri Conner's proteges thanks to a goal signed, Nolan Freyer, from the 1st minute of play. A short-lived advantage in the end since in the 12th minute, the Saint-Martin defense gets caught on a set piece before conceding a second goal in stride. The Grenadins, with a well-oiled collective, even manage to score a third goal before returning to the locker room.

Good and less good…

Back on the field, "our" Saint-Martin footballers have the merit of not giving up. The latter indeed reduce the brand to the hour of play, following a great collective movement. However, their lack of high-level experience is felt at the end of the meeting. The eleven Grenadians take this opportunity to register a 4th and then a 5th goal in added time.

With more success, Saint-Martin could and should have made a level playing field with their opponents for one night, a failed duel with the opposing goalkeeper and a missed penalty might have changed the face of the game ... _AF
