This Saturday, February 18, around 5:30 a.m., several shots were fired from an individual on the sidelines of the Jouvé Morning parade, injuring two.
The Carnival of Saint-Martin festivities came to an end on Saturday morning. Indeed, extremely serious facts took place on the sidelines of the parade, during the passage of the end of the procession of Jouvert Morning rue de Hollande, in front of the Jean-Louis Vanterpool stadium.
For reasons still unknown, a fight broke out between onlookers. An individual then pulls out a handgun and shoots in the direction of the group which was dispersing running.
In this action, the shots hit two female spectators of the procession and foreign to this fight. The two victims, aged 23 and 51 respectively, were fortunately only slightly injured. They will nevertheless be transported to the Louis-Constant Fleming hospital center for additional examinations.
Following this event, and for safety, the gendarmerie stopped the parade and the dispersal of the participants took place without incident. An investigation has been opened. The man who fired the shots is still actively sought by law enforcement. AF
