Organized by Métimer with the collaboration of the Saint Martin Tourist Office on June 11 and 12, the Fête de la Mer was a real triumph: 9000 tickets were sold.

The project team is delighted with the great success of this eleventh edition of the Fête de la Mer, which was back in force after a two-year forced break. A gathering that gives pride of place to water sports, the Fête de la Mer took over the beach of Grand-Case last weekend offering activities to discover sports related to the sea, whether motorized or not.

As recommended, the jet skis were very popular, the number of machines available was also higher than in previous editions. The towed buoy and catamaran tours are not left out with strong demand from participants. Alexina Paya, coordinator of Métimer, is delighted with the enthusiasm triggered by this edition dedicated to water sports “We sold 9000 tickets, or around 1000 activities per day. "As regards the number of visitors, it is more difficult to establish a figure, but the crowd present on the beach of Grand-Case, at the lolos and the surrounding restaurants proves that the Fête de la Mer was expected and duly appreciated by the public. Families, friends, children, adults, everyone was able to taste the pleasures of water sports, the range of activities was wide and varied. We mentioned the jet-skis, the catamaran and the towed buoy, but there were also the kayak, the donut boat, the speed-boat, the small boats, the paddle, hobby cat, diam 24 and open bic or even the wake -foil. No relaxation to report whether it is Saturday or Sundaye, and to close this eleventh edition, Tahitian dancers put on a show on one of the pontoons of Grand-Case. The little ones were able to enjoy many games on land such as duck fishing or the large bouncy castle set up for the occasion.

All the activities made available by Métimer were financially accessible with a range between 3 and 15€ depending on the sporting activity. In view of the success of the event, the Métimer association will make a donation to the SNSM which was responsible for monitoring the bay of Grand-Case... and will not be long in preparing the next edition which we also wish beautiful. _VX
