“EU Richter Caribbean 2017” is “the first large-scale crisis exercise in the Antilles” - simulation of an earthquake - which will take place from March 21 to 24, 2017. The Prefect of Guadeloupe Jacques Billant also welcomed at the beginning of the month the Directorate General of Civil Security and Crisis Management (DGSCGC) for the steering committee of this exercise including among others “all the authorities for the organization of the exercise, in particular the zone based in Martinique, the interministerial service of defense and civil protection (SIDPC Guadeloupe) ”. The scenario adopted is based on the historic earthquake of 1843 which devastated Guadeloupe and several islands in the Lesser Antilles arc, according to the prefecture. _EH
