After the passage of Irma, the number of cars damaged and declared wrecked was estimated at 3. Part of these end-of-life vehicles (ELV) was removed and taken to the ecosite. Despite this, there are still some left.
In France, the regulations are strict: all ELVs must be cleaned up and not just any garage can do it. In Saint-Martin, only one establishment has the approval, it is the company Verde SXM which operates the ecosite whose processing capacity is twelve vehicles per day. To date, nearly 1 end-of-life vehicles have been treated. There are therefore at least 800 remaining.
In order to speed up the pace, the prefecture is working to be able to grant approval to four garages. The latter will be able to clean up ELVs which will then be transferred to the ecosite where they will be compacted and evacuated. (More details on www.soualigapost.com)
