President Louis Mussington and his executive went to the site of the Grandes Cayes ecosite on Friday, May 27 to see directly on site the means implemented by the company VERDESXM for the treatment of our waste.
The challenges in terms of waste treatment and compliance with environmental standards are constantly changing. VERDESXM is therefore working on the implementation of new technologies for the treatment and recycling of waste produced in Saint-Martin.
This action plan was presented for the first time in 2021 to territorial elected officials and was to be the subject of a detailed presentation to the new term of office. After a first community meeting in early May, the elected officials traveled to the Cul-de-Sac site to measure the issues and the operations to be carried out.
Compared to other territories in the Caribbean, Saint-Martin benefits from good quality infrastructure and waste treatment is rather well organized there. Nevertheless, our territory must modernize and meet future challenges in this area, including selective sorting and optimization of recycling.
The president and his team are particularly attentive to the protection of the environment and count on Verde to support public policies in this area and to propose innovative solutions at its level of intervention. The selective sorting markets will finally be able to resume, with the need to improve sorting and recycling capacity at the level of citizens but also of treatment structures.
