Lou Nkpa, a first year business student in Montreal and a former student of Robert Weinum high school, recently conducted a survey within the school complex to understand the habits of students in terms of waste management and consumption of bottled water. in plastic.

245 students, half of them in final, a quarter of a second and a quarter of first, responded. 86,5% of them indicated that water is the drink they consume the most, for 10,6%, it is sodas and fruit juices.

109 students drink between 1 and 2 liter (s) of water per day, 85 between 0,5 and 1 liter per day. 24 students questioned consume more than 2 liters.

For a little over two-thirds of the students who took part in the survey, the water consumed is bottled water. For 43,7% of them, it is more practical and for 40% it is for taste. Only 9 high school students reported never consuming bottled water.

8 out of 10 students surveyed never drink tap water, 9,4% occasionally. Only 4 consume often.

Three quarters of young people bring their mineral or spring water to school. 46,7% of them bring it in a bottle and a quarter in a gourd. 42,7% of them say they throw away their bottle every day.

In order to sensitize his comrades to the protection of the environment, Lou then organized a distribution of gourds.
