Intensive SNSM training at Friar's Bay!

0

A dozen SNSM rescuers carried out their monthly exercise last Sunday in ideal weather conditions on the site of Friar's Bay. A very physical training, however, with a lot of swimming on the program.

The first exercise consisted in recovering a mannequin sunk to 4 m of depth and to tow it at a distant distance of approximately 200 m while making sure permanently to keep the head of the "victim" out of water. And this, in pairs, for obvious security reasons.

Acceleration of the heart rate thanks to a quicker tonic return by swimming with the help of fins, mask and snorkel, over a distance of approximately 300 m.

The time to return to a normal pulse, we revise for some and discover for others, the famous chair knot.

Then towing the trailer in a straight line on its back for nearly 100 m. With the hands intentionally taken to keep the trailer on the surface, all the work is in the legs and the pedaling efficiency.

Last but not least, a 150m sprint race of all team members together.

For the record, the last one will not have had to pay for his tour because once the last test is over on the beach, a delicious and hearty breakfast awaited the lifeguards.

SNSM members would like to thank Laurent (alias lolo) and his team at Friar's Bay Beach Café for their complimentary brunch (with even a special mention from vegetarian and vegan team members). _AF
