On Thursday, November 10, the Forum des Métiers de la Mer organized by the Métimer association took place in the Galisbay car park to honor the nautical sector.

The idea had been germinating for two years within the organizing team in order to offer the population of Saint-Martin a place to meet with professionals in the nautical sector so that they could learn more about training, jobs, creation of company and possible careers in the field.

The opportunity was also for these professionals to discuss together on the same theme. In partnership with the Collectivity, the Federation of Nautical Industries and Opco2i, Métimer has brought together several institutions concerned: the Department of the Sea to find out more about the regulation of fishing and ships, the Departments of the economy, Employment, Labor and Solidarity (DEETS) for training, DRAJES for Physical and Sports Activity Establishments (EAPS), Pôle Emploi, Local Mission, CCISM, Saint-Martin Active Initiative, ADIE for micro-credits, the seagoing personnel training center from Martinique EFPMA which will help develop the catalog of training courses specific to maritime trades in Saint-Martin, Format, the French Navy represented by Thomas Fournier, referent for the Northern Islands, and which has 60 maritime professions detailed during the forum, the Nature Reserve, loyal partner of Métimer, ISGCN new training center which offers a technical-commercial BTS nautical option and a Bac Pro enviro nment, the Customs, the Port Establishment which presented its project to extend the commercial port and the trades which will result from it, the vocational high school with the Nautical Maintenance section, of which other students ensured the reception of the Forum of Sea trades. The afternoon was rich with the visit of 80 young people from the Mont des Accords college and the Daniella Jeffry vocational school. The students followed with interest the conferences given by the professionals of the nautical sector. The catering, initially planned by the vocational high school, was taken care of by the new food truck "Le Claquettes Chaussettes", contributing to the good atmosphere of this beautiful day dedicated to sea trades which brought together around a hundred visitors. _VX
