EMPLOYMENT: The COM wants to train Saint-Martinois for management positions

The elected representatives of the territorial council validated last Thursday the program "Future framework for Saint-Martin". The purpose of this system is to train Saint-Martinois for management positions in the public and private sectors on the territory and thus limit the recruitment of people from outside the island. The goal is to be able to start it next year.

The first step is to define the offer. Over the next few weeks, an employment commission will identify the needs of businesses and administrations in the short term; three colleges will be created: one for the private sector, one for the public sector and one for the health / hospital sector. Job descriptions will be drawn up in order to recruit candidates as a second step.

Those interested in these future positions to be filled but who do not have the required level of qualification, will be able to apply. Successful candidates will go on training and will be fully supported financially. They will also be supported in order to limit the risk of failure. By agreeing to take this training, candidates agree to return to the territory and work there for five years.

The system is aimed both at employees who wish to move into management positions and at students or high school students: a nursery assistant who wishes to become a nursery director, directors of services, health establishments, teachers, etc. "Our objective is to allow Saint-Martinois to access management positions, but above all to ensure that key management positions, whether at the COM or elsewhere, are occupied by Saint-Martinois who have already familiar with the island, ”explains the COM, which aims to train 100 executives in ten years.

The cost of this program is estimated at 15 million euros, 90% of which should be financed by the State which, by interministerial decree, will officially put the system in place. (soualigapost.com)
