TERRITORIAL ELECTIONS: Avenir Saint-Martin relies on the economy and social cohesion

0

"Economy and social cohesion are the two major themes that we have declined in our program," says Yawo Nyuiadzi, leader of the Avenir Saint-Martin list. “A strong economy is the way to overcome poverty,” he agrees.

To achieve this, the list has planned to carry out a so-called operational program, that is to say in the months following the election and a so-called intermediate program in the longer term.

“We have projects with a deadline and an operationality”, continues Jean-Paul Fischer, running mate. To ensure an immediate revival of the local economy, Avenir Saint-Martin wishes in particular to release the "outstanding investments", allocate the road fund to the improvement of the road network and the construction of the detour at Friar's Bay, support associations of integration to the tune of 2 million to create 250 jobs, etc.

The list also wants to create a guarantee fund for companies and a venture capital company, etc. Endowed with one million euros at the start, this company would take capital shares in Saint-Martinois companies to support them in the start of their activity. Avenir Saint-Martin wants to favor “development in association with the population, socio-professionals”, etc.

“Budget simulation work allows us to commit over the next five years to an envelope of 530 million euros which will be allocated to public action, including 50 million for positive social action: entrepreneurship, young people , the elderly and people with disabilities”, explain the running mate. And to insist: “our development will not be subject to the good will of foreign investors alone, but our development will be managed by proactive public action in association with the local private sector. »

The list also intends to mobilize financial operators to improve housing "as is done elsewhere", to set up a public service delegation for the renovation and operation of the Marina Royale in Marigot,  training plans, creating a shipyard for yachting, creating an artists' house, an economic intelligence unit, rebuilding cultural centres, etc.

In general, Avenir Saint-Martin wants to boost the economy, "bring out a local elite", support local initiatives and sign multi-year agreements with associations (operating grants) by mobilizing European and other funds that exist. but which are not sufficiently solicited.

Finally, Avenir Saint-Martin intends to change the mode of governance by making it more transparent.

“Today governance is discredited. The COM of Saint-Martin has a credibility problem. We need to stimulate a new dynamic”, assures Jean-Paul Fischer.
