Education: Saint-Martin obtains the “Cité Educative” label

0

Within the framework of the Interministerial Committee for the City (CIV), the Prime Minister announced the labeling of nine new Educational Cities in Overseas France. A new national program that will also see the light of day in Saint-Martin from 2022!

An Educational City is not just another device, but a program that will allow the creation of a real alliance of all the educational actors working in the priority neighborhoods of the city policy: the State services, the COM, the associations and of course the inhabitants, children, young people and parents.

This Educational City will intensify the educational care of children from 3 years old and young people up to 25 years old, before, during, around and after school. It is thus a question of federating all the actors of school and extracurricular education.

A label of excellence

It is in this context that the National Education Service, the Prefecture and the Collectivity of Saint-Martin responded to the call for projects from the National Agency for Territorial Cohesion. Together they drew up a very comprehensive dossier, which was therefore retained.

Saint-Martin's "Educational City" label is now a reality and the additional resources allocated by the State for our territory have been recorded.

The strategy is ambitious, shared, with the lead community, it aims to create a real “Territory with high educational quality”.

Three key objectives are broken down into a series of measures and concrete actions in favor of shared educational success: strengthening the role of the school, promoting educational continuity and opening up the field of possibilities.

Concretely, the Educational City of Saint-Martin will be carried by the Mont-des-Accords college. Its main perimeter is the REP (Priority Education Networks) of Mont-des-Accords which includes the QPV (Priority District of the City) of Sandy-Ground, the students of the Vocational High School residing in Quartier d'Orléans as well as the young under the age of 25 in the QVA (Active Watch Districts) of Concordia, Agrément, St-James, Hameau-du-Pont, Grand-Case and Cul-de-Sac, i.e. nearly 10 children and young people, whether in school or not .

Existing actions will benefit from additional resources, large-scale coordination and will be supplemented by innovative mechanisms.

The details of this new program will be communicated very soon.

"The challenges are numerous and every day we take them up thanks to the future Educational City, we will go even further in the care of the children and young people of Saint-Martin", underlines Olivier Beaufour, Adviser in training engineering.

More than recognition, the “Cité Educative” label is indeed a tremendous lever for combating inequalities and concretely ensuring equal opportunities for all.
