The Sint Maarten Heineken Regatta is celebrating its 42nd anniversary this year. More than 100 boats are expected during the four days of racing which will take place from Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 March 2022.
Coming from more than 35 countries, amateur or professional sailors will compete for a long weekend which promises to be under the best auspices.
Over a hundred boats (from dream sailboats to prototypes to family cruisers) will take part in this internationally renowned regatta.
Like previous editions, the traditional tour of the island will take place on Friday 4 March. Show guaranteed!
In addition, the Sint Maarten Yacht Club has invited the Caribbean islands to send their own team of young people to compete in this prestigious event.
The objective of this approach is to offer young sailors a showcase and opportunities to sail and compete against experienced sailors participating in major international competitions.
Although no concert is taking place this year (due to health restrictions), entertainment is still planned every evening around 18 p.m.
On their return from the race, the sailors will be able to meet at the Yacht Club Port de Plaisance and attend the prize giving with the “serious fun” touch that characterizes this regatta considered to be the most famous of offshore races. _AF
