Following Irma's passage, the schools were badly damaged. Repairs are underway but two schools have been closed definitively by the Collectivity, because they presented a state of deterioration requiring renovation and security works too important to be able to reopen, these are the Emile Larmonie schools in Cul- de-Sac and Nina Duverly in Marigot. The students were then distributed to other schools.
In preparation for the next school year, the Collectivity has adapted a new school perimeter for nursery and elementary schools in the French part. It was carried out by considering "the need to guarantee the working conditions of the members of the school community, while ensuring a good adequacy of the reception capacities of the school premises". The COM does not want to "weaken the schools concerned or disrupt family arrangements".
Depending on their place of residence, parents will have to enroll their children in the school in their neighborhood.
