Education: Rector takes stock of vocational high school reform

Mostafa Fourar, the rector of the Guadeloupe academy was in Saint-Martin on Monday May 13 and went to the vocational high school to take stock of the reform implemented at the start of the next school year.

He met the school principal with her assistants and collaborators, as well as student representatives. Principal Janine Hamlet gave him a briefing on the situation. “There were several meetings. Apparently the teachers were accompanied by the inspectors and today there is no particular concern about the implementation of this reform at the start of the next school year ”reported the rector. This reform of the vocational school consists roughly in the establishment of three families of trades. “For the start of the 2019 school year, there will be only one in Saint-Martin (customer relations professions), the other two will arrive at the start of the 2020 school year (hotel and catering professions) and 2021 (professions, wood, maintenance, digital technology and energy transition). In three years we will have swept away all the trades because we have only one high school so we cannot play complementarity with another professional establishment on the island ”he added. The sectors already in place will continue, but it is their operation that will gradually change, particularly in terms of hours and interdisciplinarity.
