The overall enrollment forecast for the start of the 2020 school year indicates a drop in the number of pupils of around 2,5%. This is a trend that has been confirmed for several years.
Regarding the first level (nursery and elementary), the expected numbers are 3 students in 634, a decrease of 2020% compared to the start of the 2,5 school year. For the second level, 2019 students are planned in secondary schools on the island and 1 for high schools. That is a total of 900 college and high school students this year, against 1 in 584 (-3%). In terms of infrastructure and establishments, the education service of Saint-Martin affirms that all post-Irma repairs have been completed and that the work in progress or to be carried out is in the order of the remodernization of schools. The Collectivity will take stock of the new school year this Friday on the occasion of the visit to the territory of the new rector, Christine Gangloff-Ziegler.
