After having created its Facebook page, organized meetings with high school students in Saint-Martin, live on social networks, the Association of Former Students of Saint-Martin continues to develop by launching its website!
If this tool has been slow to emerge - the association has existed since 2015, it is only for financial reasons and therefore time. The young people who constitute the hard core, built the site themselves for lack of having the financial means to request the services of a professional. "We spent several sleepless nights!" Says Cécile de Caunes with humor.
The purpose of Sxmschoolinfo.org is to provide information to high school students schooled in Saint Martin. “When we came last December to host our annual meeting with young people, we realized that many high school students did not know Crous, did not know how to apply for a scholarship, etc. However, they are no less intelligent than high school students in mainland France, who are more aware of them. The difference is that here in Saint-Martin, there is a lack of information, ”explains Cécile de Caunes. Hence the association's desire to make up for this lack thanks to the website.
The latter has four main components: scholarship, housing, tools and Canada. For example, with regard to scholarships, it is explained that a student will spend on average 800 euros per month during his studies as well as all the steps to request help from the CROUS and the Collectivity. In the Tools section, high school students will find information on bank accounts, mobile phone plans, writing a cover letter, etc.
Finally, the site is accessible in French, English and Spanish. "Some young people are more comfortable in English than in French and we also wanted to allow parents to have access to this information, and some do not speak French," says Cécile de Caunes.
