For the Minister of Overseas Annick Girardin, the teachers who left the islands of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy after Hurricane Irma are guilty of "abandonment of post".
Words that do not pass at all. Invited last Friday on RTL, the Minister of Overseas Annick Girardin spoke on the situation in Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy, after the passage of Irma.
And she lambasted teachers who left the disaster-stricken northern islands:
“I myself saw, by crossing them and exchanging with them, teachers leaving the island (…) I am a civil servant, I believe that there was a duty to be present. (…) For me, it is abandonment of post ”, annoyed Annick Girardin about the teachers who did not come back to participate in the reconstruction.
“I felt that from the moment we had protected his family […] the teachers after a few days or weeks of airlocks, should be present, since they are paid, on Saint-Martin […] do something else ! ", She adds.
She will plead for sanctions
The Overseas Minister believes that the State must take punitive measures against teachers who have deserted: “I am not the only one to imagine it. (…) I am not Minister of National Education but I will plead for ”.
“There may be people who are not ready to come back to the students, because they are also affected psychologically. But I think there is still a percentage of people who will have to have a good lesson. "
“Life has resumed, emergencies have been resolved and today we are in the reconstruction part (…) It is still too slow but despite everything, it is 75% of households that have access to water while all the networks were destroyed, ”the Minister also indicated. _AF
