Ten schools received their nameplate yesterday morning in several areas of the island. On this occasion, an elected official presented to the press the personality whose name now appears on the plaque of the establishment. We followed one of the ceremonies at Cul-de-Sac.
The inauguration of the Emile Larmonie elementary school was carried out by Nadine Jermin-Paines, territorial advisor, responsible for this school and the nursery school of Grand-Case, in the presence in particular of Mr. Larmonie and his family, and the director of the establishment Annick Petrus-Ferga. Emile Larmonie, now retired, continues to be involved in local life and sits on district council No. 2 located in Grand-Case, underlined the territorial advisor. During his career, he taught in particular in Guadeloupe and was in charge in Saint-Martin of the sections of specialized education - current sections of general and adapted vocational education (SEGPA) - at the college of Marigot. "He was a devoted teacher to his students," said the school principal. In 1982 he entered politics and became deputy mayor eight years later. He helped build a school at Sandy Ground. “In his opinion, a hamlet without a school is like a lost soul,” concluded Ms. Petrus-Ferga.

Concord / Marie-Amélie Leydet School : former elementary school Hervé Williams 1, in the presence of Louis Fleming.
Sandy Ground / Jérôme Beaupere School : former kindergarten of Sandy Ground, in the presence of Antero Santos Paulino; Aline Hanson School: former elementary school, in the presence of Jules Charville.
