Create the desire to do mathematics through sport

0

The mathematics week will take place from March 14 to 18 in Saint-Martin. With the theme "Maths and sports", students will participate in many fun workshops. The challenges have already started for some with a brand new project called "Run to Paris".

The objective of the Northern Islands steering committee is to promote all the projects carried out in schools within the framework of this week of mathematics. Like last year, puzzles will be broadcast in newspapers during the event. The population will thus be able to discover the work of the students. Each establishment was able to count on the help of a mathematics resource person - trained last January - to prepare the various exercises. Last year, this week was a real success. Based on the game, the various activities had allowed a lot of inter-degree exchanges. The program for this 2016 session will be unveiled soon.

A virtual race of 6726 km: the education department and the steering committee set up a new project this year called “Run to Paris”. This is a virtual race, connecting Saint-Martin to Paris, which started on February 15. As part of this initiative, students take part in running sessions: the kilometers traveled are then counted by each class. The goal is to run enough not to end up… in the ocean. If the students succeed in this challenge, they will be able to discuss with their classmates in Paris by videoconference at the end of the mathematics week. To participate in this race - which will end on March 15th - please send an email to the following address: elice.jeanluc@gmail.com.
