The key figures from the 2016 assessment concerning the labor market and employment policies in Saint-Martin, Saint-Barthélemy and Guadeloupe were published by the regional directorate for business, competition, consumption, labor and of employment (DIECCTE) of Guadeloupe. At the end of 2016, 5.279 job seekers were registered in ABC categories in the Northern Islands: 4.764 in Saint-Martin and 515 in Saint-Barthélemy. This number is up 1,5% year on year. The majority of the applicants are women. As for the demand for long-term employment, it represents 40,1% of the requests in Saint-Martin and 34,7% in Saint-Barthélemy. Regarding the number of contracts relating to employment policies, it stood at 7.922 in Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands.
