The criminal court of Saint Martin condemned this Thursday March 2, 2017 a man to ten months in prison for not having respected his obligation to pay alimony to his ex-wife who is raising their two children. The fifty-year-old man was absent at the hearing, and his address is unknown. "The last news he lived in Canada, but I have not had contact with him for three years" says his ex-wife, unemployed, accompanied by a lawyer for legal aid. After having deliberated on it, the court sentences MM to ten months in prison and to pay 10 euros to his ex-wife who has joined as a civil party, for damages.
