Distinction: A gendarme from Saint-Martin decorated for an act of courage and dedication

0

Some time ago, a gendarme of the Saint-Martin Espérance brigade on his way home, after his duty, saw a vehicle in a ravine full of water.

Immediately, the member goes up to the vehicle and sees that a person is inside and not moving. He then broke the window, entered the vehicle from behind, and managed to get the driver out, conscious but in a state of shock. The vehicle slips and continues to submerge in the water.

The cold-blooded intervention of this gendarme saved the life of the accident driver.

This act, noticed, caused a sensation among the local population.

It was during the ceremony of July 14 that the Prefect, Serge Gouteyron presented this courageous gendarme with the medal for an act of courage and dedication. Congratulations to the recipient!

It should be noted that the health pass was checked when entering the Prefecture and that only people who had been vaccinated or had a PCR test of less than 48 hours were admitted.
