They both studied general medicine in Nantes but met in Saint-Martin where they have made several replacements over the past two years. After seeing a real need locally, doctors Florence Freté and Benjamin Mekki, aged in their thirties, decided to join forces to open their practice on March 8 within the Marigot Medical Clinic *.
“During my previous trips, I observed that it was not easy for patients to consult a general practitioner in the afternoons due to a limited supply, and that therefore patients often went to the emergency room. which could increase their attendance. My colleagues at the hospital also confirmed it to me, many of their acts fell within the scope of general medicine, ”explains Dr Benjamin Mekki. With his colleague, he therefore wanted to offer "continuous care" from morning to night and capture a portion of this clientele who does not need to go to the emergency room.
The two doctors want to go even further in their service offering. "We indeed have the project to open a medical center on call", they announce. “At night too, you have no other choice, even for a simple toothache, than to go to the emergency room, which can overload them. With the medical center on call, you can contact a doctor and consult him at the medical center, ”explains Dr Mekki. visit to a cabinet.
The two partners have already spoken about their project to other generalists, some have already responded favorably and wish to join. “The house should open in the next few months and will operate from 19 pm to midnight,” explains Dr Mekki.
Finally, the two young doctors are working on another project for Saint-Martin patients, that of opening a teleconsultation center with specialists. They are working with the regional health agency ** to set up this project.
