Since the beginning of March, a new scrap baler has been installed and started up at the Grandes Cayes ecosite in VERDE.
His role ? Allow the rapid compaction of tonnes of metal waste recovered in Saint-Martin (light scrap, metal sheets, car bodies, etc.) in order to then export them more easily for treatment and reuse.
Once collected on the island, either directly by deposit at the recycling center or during a door-to-door operation, the metal waste is thus sorted, compacted, then sent to Metropolitan France where it will serve as secondary raw materials for the metallurgical industry. .
Thanks to this new press, it is therefore all the collective work of cleaning up the island undertaken since Irma that will be able to accelerate!
