“It is with great sadness and a lot of emotion that we learned of the death of a great name in Saint-Martin rugby. Patrick Gréa, founder of the Archiball club and the Rugby Union fought to the end against the disease with the courage and selflessness that we knew him to have. He will have marked Saint-Martin with his sporting imprint and his great passion for rugby.

Patrick Gréa was fully involved in this collective sport, here on our island, and contributed to its influence in all the Antilles, becoming over the years a reference in Caribbean rugby. He trained several generations of young people from Saint-Martin and transmitted his unconditional love for Ovalie to them. Patrick Gréa has made Saint-Martin rugby shine beyond our borders, his human qualities and his career, recognized by all, will remain engraved in the hearts of Saint-Martinois. Those who knew him will remember him as a passionate man, of great value, turned towards excellence.

The members of the Territorial Council, my first vice-president, Valérie Damaseau, Jean-Raymond Benjamin in charge of sport and the sports management teams of the Collectivity, join me in sending our sincere condolences to his wife, his children, family and loved ones.

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin and its elected officials publicly recognize its commitment and simply say THANK YOU. We pay tribute to him for his entire journey ”.
