The chickenpox epidemic has indeed started in Saint-Martin, according to the latest bulletin from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Guadeloupe / North Islands. Consultations in city medicine concerning this highly contagious viral disease have increased over the past two weeks with respectively 20 and 40 cases estimated, according to health authorities. For the moment, the visits to the emergency room for chickenpox - which manifests as a rash which may be accompanied by fever - are low: two weekly visits have been recorded in the last two weeks.
