Many children deprived of meals on Friday in the canteen: the explanations of the Collectivity

The Caisse Territoriale des Œuvres Scolaires (CTOS) communicated on Thursday January 14 on social networks and through the press to inform of the exceptional closure of the central kitchen of Grand Case on Friday January 15, following the detection of 3 cases of Covid-19 among staff.

It was stated in this press release that a cold meal would be served to 1st degree children.

The kitchen being closed, CTOS requested the services of a bakery as soon as it became aware of the problem, for which it prepares sandwiches. Shortly before noon on Friday, the bakery informed in disaster that it was out of bread and that it could not provide 530 sandwiches out of the 2600 ordered.

CTOS then looked for alternative solutions. She made every effort to prepare 600 sandwiches as a matter of urgency and deliver the schools on hold. A significant delay has unfortunately accumulated and some schools could not be delivered on time.

The CTOS could have asked the parents, on Thursday, to pick up the children, but it wanted to offer a solution and serve a cold meal so as not to put the parents in difficulty.

Obviously, the CTOS apologizes for this dysfunction which arose following the detection of cases of covid19 and the difficulties encountered by the service provider who had undertaken to provide this order. It is unfortunate because the children have suffered.

However, for several months now, CTOS has been doing everything possible to reorganize the quality and distribution of meals. It is in this sense that the president of the structure, Pascale Laborde asked the teams of the central kitchen to work and the teams are committed to it on a daily basis.

Today's incident is regrettable, but you should know that since then the kitchen has been disinfected according to the protocol in force. It was to reopen its doors yesterday.
