Last Friday the Regional Council of Guadeloupe voted unanimously to award a public service delegation (DSP), for the deployment of optical fiber in 45.000 homes in the department (FTTH or Fiber To The Home).

In two cases, it is that of the SFR / Dauphin Telecom / Semag group which was chosen to the detriment of Orange to deploy and operate a very high speed network in 15 municipalities of Guadeloupe.

Residents of Baillif, Vieux-Habitants, Bouillante, Pointe-Noire, Deshaies, Port Louis, Petit-Canal, Anse Bertrand, Saint-François, and the six municipalities of the southern islands, will now have access to very high speed. In order to ensure the interconnection of the southern islands, Marie-Galante and Les Saintes, an optical fiber submarine cable will also be built, so that by 2022 all households have access to this very high speed.

Total cost of the project, 87 million euros, financed by the successful tenderer, Europe, and the Region which will pre-finance more than 19 million euros. “It's a great satisfaction. It is an initiative launched in 2017 and the culmination of long-term, precise and technical work, ”said relieved Jean-Gabriel Quillin, Director of digital access to the Guadeloupe Region.
