The President of the Collectivity of Saint-Martin Daniel Gibbs met the heads of secondary schools. A time of exchange and sharing around current topics but also that for the community of Saint-Martin to communicate on the projects and work carried out in concert with the National Education in favor of the learning of the youth.

At the invitation of Vice-Rector Michel Sanz, President Daniel Gibbs had the pleasure of meeting, on Tuesday, August 31, the heads of secondary schools, some of whom were newly posted to Saint-Martin.  An opportunity for the president of the community to welcome the newcomers and discuss together the priorities of this back-to-school period delayed by the health crisis, as well as the achievements and projects carried out jointly with the National Education at the service of students of Saint-Martin. The president of the Collectivity took the time to present the territory and its specificities as well as the potential and the cultural and linguistic wealth of our island, not without mentioning the structural difficulties which the territory has been facing for several years. The work carried out in partnership with the heads of establishments and the services of the National Education gives rise to concrete advances in favor of the local youth, among which it is advisable to quote the creation of new courses of apprenticeship (the professions of security or the green spaces sector), the opening of three BTS, the creation of classes with flexible hours for learning music, a new SEGPA class at the Orleans district college or the opening of bilingual classes which have served as an example for several years.

500 euros of work

“Much remains to be done and my teams are fully mobilized and listening to you,” said President Gibbs.  The Collectivity has committed 500 euros for additional work in schools, mainly plumbing, electricity and painting. This work was partly carried out during the summer holidays and will continue outside school time, during the All Saints holidays.

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin, under the aegis of the 3rd vice-president in charge of education, Ms. Sofia Carti-Codrington and her teams led by the DGA Jocelyn Elouin, wishes to be part of a process of regular consultation, in order to meet the expectations of school leaders and the teaching staff as a whole and to best serve the learning of Saint-Martin students.
