The 33rd RIMa constitutes an intervention capacity of the armed forces in the Antilles (FAA) on all the French islands of the Caribbean and, if necessary, beyond.

The 33rd RIMa is therefore intended to be screened on very short notice from anywhere in the region in order to contribute to the primary mission of the FAA: ensuring the defense of French interests and the protection of its nationals on national territory and in general of their permanent area of ​​responsibility Antilles / Guyane.

The armed forces in the Antilles guarantee the protection of the national territory and animate regional cooperation from the departments of Martinique, Guadeloupe and the Northern Islands. They constitute a leading joint system in the Caribbean theater, in coordination with the armed forces in Guyana. The FAA carry out three main missions: State action at sea under the authority of the Government delegate for State action at sea (DDG AEM) in order to effectively combat drug trafficking at sea and coordinate implementation of emergency plans at sea, assistance to populations in the event of a natural disaster and international cooperation. _AF
