Culture / Education: A virtual museum for Saint Martin!

0

Last Friday at a press conference organized in its premises on rue Félix Frostron, the National Education through its team led by Michel Sanz, academic director, presented the result of a work started last December. A virtual museum as part of its now annual event, “art en fête”.

Despite the passage of Irma and the many destruction it caused, the will of the team is quite clear from the start, we do not drop the project. The pupils of the schools of Saint-Martin and Saint-Barthélemy are going to need dream (s). This is also the magnificent theme of this edition. “It's the way for the students to have artistic and cultural activities. We must allow them to have fun despite the trauma, ”explains Michel Sanz. The challenge was significant since the realization of a virtual museum requires significant technical means and the working conditions were not ideal as one can easily imagine. Challenge taken up by Jean-Sébastien Hamlet who thanks, as soon as he speaks, the entire rectorate team for the support and encouragement. The team spirit was also palpable during this presentation. Collaborating looks and approving smiles, the difficulty allowed the birth of a great dynamic around the common desire to "highlight the productions of school students on our two islands".

As you will see, the participation of schools this year is not as important as during the first two editions, but the rectorate did not want to "put pressure" because "everyone has been weakened". However, if it is lower, participation remains substantial and of high quality.

But then, what does this virtual museum look like? In all honesty, we did not expect such a result. The tool is beautiful to start with. It's not nothing ! The desire to immerse yourself in a virtual tool very much depends on its appearance at the start. And then we get into it. Professional and fun result. We revisit the schools of the two islands with a 360 ° vision. We want to click on all the buttons, launch all the videos… This museum has nothing to envy others. Jean-Sébastien Hamlet used a technique that allows not to lose a single pixel and to optimize the experience.

Between the lines, barely veiled, we could read a real desire to please children and site visitors. We can even, using special glasses, live the experience of virtual reality as in a film!

The site has been accessible since Friday morning from the internet portal of the Académie de Guadeloupe, on your mobile phones, tablets and PCs. _NB
