Since yesterday Wednesday September 9 and until Tuesday September 29, 2020 inclusive, wearing a mask is compulsory on Guadeloupe soil for any person aged eleven and over who is:

> in all streets where there is an elementary school, college, high school, higher education establishment or vocational training establishment;

> in all streets where the following establishments are located:

  all types of sales and repair businesses, including covered and open markets;

• take-out points of sale;

• commercial establishments intended for exhibitions or trade fairs;

• administrations and banks;

• restaurants and drinking establishments;

• indoor and outdoor sports establishments, stadiums and racetracks;

• pharmacies, doctors' offices and healthcare establishments;

• establishments of worship;

• bus and ferry stations as well as airports;

• audition rooms, conferences, shows and cinemas, museums and artistic education establishments;

• game rooms;

• libraries, documentation centers;

• hotels and guesthouses, early learning and educational establishments, holiday centers, leisure centers without  accommodation.

This measure follows 22 prefectural decrees taken at the municipal level last August.

> The obligation to wear a mask does not apply on beaches, ponds, bodies of water, footpaths and hiking trails and for the practice of sports activities except when the health protocols set by the administrative authority ( youth, sports and social cohesion department) or the delegated sports federations provide for it.

> The obligation does not apply to people with disabilities who have a medical certificate justifying this exemption.

The numerous checks carried out to date, mainly in places with a high concentration of population, have shown that the great majority of the population respected this principle, certainly binding but essential for the survival of our most vulnerable citizens, especially the elderly. which can easily, unfortunately, be infected by the youngest, especially when they are COVID + but asymptomatic.
