Whether it is partly French or Dutch side, "the health situation is deteriorating", announced the prefect during a press conference organized yesterday morning.

The Regional Health Agency recorded 115 new cases of Covid-19 (mainly English variant) last week in part French out of the 1 tests carried out.

In view of the context, Serge Gouteyron decided to close the restaurant-bars at 23 p.m. instead of midnight last night as also imposed by the Prime Minister of Sint Maarten. "If the indicators do not drop, I will close them at 20 or 21 pm," added the prefect. He is giving himself a week to assess the situation. A dozen days ago, the representative sounded the alarm and warned that he would take action if necessary.

Serge Gouteyron asks the population to respect the barrier gestures and to go get vaccinated in order to limit the progression of the virus on the territory. "If this is not the case, the measure to travel with compelling reasons will not be lifted," he warns.

Six people are hospitalized, one of whom (aged 77) is ventilated. Two of these six patients are young, they are 27 and 39 years old. The incidence rate is 321 while it is 128 in metropolitan France and the positivity rate 6,1% against 3,6% in metropolitan France.

The prefect has also announced a reinforcement of controls.
