DEMONSTRATION / Water cuts: residents of Orient Bay angry

1

This Monday evening, many inhabitants of Orient Bay Park gathered at the entrance of the latter for a wild demonstration to protest against the unfair water cuts of the SAUR.

During the gathering, were present owners, tenants, tourism professionals, a representative of the ASL (Association Syndicale Libre) and its trustee, as well as Yawo Nyuiadzi, 2nd Vice-President of the Collectivity, who had made the travel to meet the demonstrators. The population thus expressed its dissatisfaction with measures deemed arbitrary and drastic compared to those put in place for the other districts of the island. Isabelle Cazorla: “We are here this evening for the iniquity of the cuts which certainly seem essential but compared to 36 hours in a row then with 8 hours of water and again 36 hours of cutoff, which, roughly speaking, represents almost a week. whole without water. It is blackmail to repair networks which in my opinion is not due. We must stop taking Orient Bay as a scapegoat. "The arguments of Mr. Nyuiadzi and the figures communicated by SAUR informing of the loss of 350m³ of water per day due to leaks on the BO network will not have been enough to calm the ardor of the population, which shows itself inclined to that the usual repairs are carried out but with decent and acceptable water cuts. Jérôme Bourseau: “Our problem is that the SAUR penalizes us enormously on the soundtrack by shutting off the water practically 4 days a week. The soundtrack being the most touristic place on the island, we are currently having great difficulty in bringing together a few tourists to be able to survive so if in addition we are murdered by cutting off the water, it's over, we will have more activities. It is high time to go around the table with all the representatives, including politicians, to find fair solutions. The Vice-President therefore proposed an emergency meeting between the delegates of the BO and the SAUR. At the time of writing, the meeting is scheduled at the EEASM offices this Tuesday, May 25 at 15 p.m. _VX

Saur, EDF, and the Internet companies, for several years, have had email addresses for many, probably most of the customers, and use email to confirm payments, etc. Why, for several years now, have these companies been refusing customer notification requests by email? at least 12 hours before the cuts? Last week, there was 1 hour notice of water outages in faxinfo over a day, and no notice for a second day of outages in the same area. Call businesses and ask for email notifications 12 hours before cuts.
