While the Covid-19 epidemic continues to spread, the fraud repression services (DGCCRF) warn of an increase in scams playing on fears related to the coronavirus: fake pharmacy sites selling masks hydro-alcoholic gels, and even fake finger prick tests have been dismantled.

These sites have only one vocation, recover your bank details to defraud you. Other fake sites imitating state logos and distributing fake coronavirus kits were also found : in return, you had to give your bank card number. Still others suggest filling in for you travel certificates to recover your personal data. It is deceptive marketing practices that are punishable by law.

Loïc Tanguy, spokesperson for the Repression of Fraud (DGCCRF), protested against these practices: "The only tests for check if we have coronavirus or not are made by hospitals et not by kits sent by post. When a company uses coronavirus as a marketing argument, it is necessary to be particularly vigilant. It is most likely a scam », assures the spokesperson of the DGCCRF.
