How Daniel Gibbs developed his strategy

This is one of the first projects that Daniel Gibbs launched upon assuming the presidency of the Collectivity, that of devising a new tourism strategy. This is a continuation of the previous scheme for which he was "on the initiative" in 2009-2010. 

However, two innovations have been made. The first is to present a ten-year rather than five-year strategy. "This reassures economic players and partner institutions to finance projects," notes Stéphanie Bessière, director of tourism development within the community. "Because tourism is the pillar of our economy, I have always believed that it must be thought of in the long term," he said.

The second innovation consists in the creation of two management and entertainment structures, a council and a tourism committee, one having a political role, the other technical.

In addition, the president of the COM insists on the concept of sustainability and "establishment of sustainable tourism". Daniel Gibbs conceives of tourism as "a transversal economic activity" which should reflect "a territorial project". So he seeks the support of all actors, of all Saint-Martinois.
