Community: Installation of new Neighborhood Councils

The Collectivity of Saint-Martin informs its citizens that it will proceed in July to the establishment of the new Neighborhood Councils. Applicants have until Thursday, June 29, 2017 to apply.

The registration form is available in the district councils and can be downloaded from the community website: www.com-saint-martin.fr (from Monday 12 June 2017).

List of documents to provide:

- Photocopy of passport or identity document

- Address certificate (to be collected from town planning) / Proof of address

- Certificate of voter number (issued by the Elections Department)

Note

Institutions of the community, established by the organic law of February 21, 2007 in its title 2 - Chapter IV - article Art. LO 6324-1 - neighborhood councils have an advisory role with regard to the territorial council.

It is, moreover, the territorial council which fixes the name, composition and operating methods of the district councils. The district councils are installed by the territorial executive for a period of 5 years.

Saint-Martin has 6 district councils, which each have 15 full members (and 15 alternates) divided into 3 colleges: the residents' college (7 full members), the associations college (5 full members) and the college of socio-economic players. -economic (3 full members).

This advisory role must be exercised with the territorial council when it deliberates on the revision or modification of the local urban plan in the perimeter of the district, on development projects in the perimeter of the district, and the development of local facilities, whether educational, social, cultural or sporting.

The community of Saint-Martin has defined 6 Neighborhood Councils:

• Ward 1: Rising sun (orange): Griselle - Oyster-Pond - Beautiful plain - Flagstaff - Orléans - Orient Bay.

• Ward 2: Land of Culture (Purple): Chevrise - Cul de Sac - Mont Vernon - Grand-Case - La Savane - Morne O'Reilly.

• Ward 3: Land of hope (green): Lot La Savanna - Pic Paradis - Saint-Louis - Rambaud - Colombier - Cripple Gate –Friar's Bay.

• Quartier 4 : Land of exchanges and heritage (blue): Morne-Valois - Agrément - Hameau du Pont - Galisbay - La Colombe - Concordia - Spring - Mont des Accords.

• Ward 5: La Capitale (red): Downtown Marigot - Saint-James - Rue de Hollande - Mont Fortune - Bellevue.

• Ward 6: Terre des Peuples (yellow): Sandy-Ground - Terres-Basses.
