#RoadTripEUR: eight influencers selected to criss-cross the Overseas Territories including Saint-Martin

On March 16, the General Directorate for Overseas France launched a call for applications from influencers wishing to explore the outermost regions. The eight selected for this overseas road trip are now known.

During the speech of the President of the Republic in December 2021 as part of the launch of the French Presidency of the European Union (PFUE 2022) which runs until June 31, 2022 and the opening of the European Year of Youth ( AEJ), France has expressed its wish to give an important place to the overseas departments and regions and to European youth. With this in mind, the PFUE 2022 and the AEJ represent a new space for speaking out for dynamic, connected, committed youth who are aware of the challenges of our time. The Overseas Road Trip (#RoadTripEUR) will therefore allow eight young Europeans to travel to different overseas regions through the prism of projects funded by the European Union. The eight young people will explore these territories through two routes, the Atlantic route covering Guyana, Saint-Martin, Guadeloupe and Martinique, or the Indian Ocean route with Mayotte and Reunion. More than 600 candidates presented themselves, eight were selected to live this strong and unique experience. They will leave from May 5 to 17, 2022 for a road trip by participating in a treasure hunt aimed at finding the stars of the European flag distributed in each of the territories visited. The recomposition of the European flag will take place in Brussels on 18 May. During this adventure, each influencer will have the mission of highlighting the project leaders and the experiences they have had by publishing content, photos and videos, on their social networks. One of the eligibility criteria was obviously the number of followers, with the condition of having a community of more than 2.000 people, all networks combined with a focus on Instagram. The #RoadtripEUR is an opportunity for these influencers to experience an event in the image of the European Union, namely an extraordinary human adventure, with the focus on discovering and promoting overseas territories, their population and projects developed with EU assistance.
