Naturalization ceremony: congratulations to the 18 recipients!

On Thursday March 18, a naturalization ceremony took place in the open air in the Prefecture.

The Prefect, Serge Gouteyron, in this context, delivered a speech highlighting the values ​​of the Republic and congratulated the recipients for their tenacity and their journey towards obtaining French nationality, in the presence of the vice-rector, Michel Sanz, the Territorial Councilor, Pascale Alix-Laborde, representatives of the border police forces (PAF), all the members of the management of the Citizenship and Immigration Service and the president of the veterans association, Robert Garon.

The new naturalized come from countries of very diverse origins (Haiti, Dominican Republic, Brazil, Morocco, Afghanistan, Russia…). In front of them, Tom Toussaint, on the strength of an exemplary career since his naturalization, was also invited to deliver a speech in order to demonstrate his attachment to France: “France offered me the possibility of following free schooling, a sure future as long as I put in the right effort, and for that I am grateful. The more I grew up, the more logical it seemed to me to be French, I recognized myself in the values ​​of this proud nation ”.

Ten people acquired French nationality by declaration and eight by decree. At the end of the ceremony, they all sang the national anthem.
