According to an annual publication of the Ministry of National Education published on March 17, the two high schools of Saint-Martin (professional and general) are both recognized as efficient.

“This publication is neither a ranking nor a ranking of high schools. It is a question of determining their capacity to accompany the pupils until obtaining the baccalaureate ”, assures Fabienne Rosenwald, at the head of the direction of the evaluation, the prospective and the performance (Depp), attached to the ministry.

“The results indicators of high schools have two objectives: to report on the results of the national public education service by disseminating to the general public elements of appreciation of the specific action of each high school; provide high school officials and teachers with food for thought to help them improve the effectiveness of their actions, ”recalls Vice-Rector Michel Sanz.

Three indicators are used to measure the results of an establishment.

- The baccalaureate success rate is the proportion of baccalaureate holders among students who have passed the baccalaureate.

- The rate of access to the baccalaureate is the proportion of second, first or terminal students who obtain the baccalaureate while staying in the establishment.

- The rate of mentions in the baccalaureate is the proportion of baccalaureate holders who obtained a distinction among those who passed the baccalaureate.

"The combination of these indicators offers a more detailed analysis than that of the only success rate in the baccalaureate for final year students: it assesses the institution's ability to support students from second year to graduation. and to exceed expectations by obtaining a mention. This approach is supplemented by the calculation of added values. The latter answer the question of what a high school has "added" to the initial level of its students. They measure the difference between the results obtained and the results that were expected, given the academic and socio-professional characteristics of the students, ”adds the vice rector.

The detailed information makes it possible to identify the establishments which have the best successes in a given series, those which accompany their pupils from the second to the baccalaureate, or those which agree to have a pupil repeat a pupil after a failure in the exam. It is all of this information that gives the description of the activity of a high school, considering its context. The establishments are thus classified into five categories.

A 98% success rate in the Bac for the R. Weinum high school

“For the year 2020, out of the 20 general and technological high schools of the Guadeloupe academy, 3 are recognized as performing, including the Robert Weinum high school in the Northern Islands. The latter achieved a 98% baccalaureate success rate (against 89% expected, i.e. an added value of +9), a 90% access rate to the baccalaureate (against 82% expected, i.e. an added value of +8) and a mention rate of 67% (against 35% expected, ie an added value of + 32). What is all the more remarkable is that LEGT Robert Weinum remains the only general education high school in the academy to remain successful for 4 consecutive years ”, comments Michel Sanz.

The LPO in the spotlight

"Let us not forget the professional high school of the Northern Islands which was also recognized in 2020 as efficient with a pass rate in the baccalaureate of 92% (against 81% expected, ie an added value of +11), an access rate at the baccalaureate of 81% (against 62% expected, i.e. an added value of + 19) and a mention rate of 51% (against 44 expected, i.e. an added value of +7). Over the past four years, the professional high school of the Northern Islands has already been recognized as performing in 2017 and 2018.

Regarding 2019, it was classified as an accompanying high school and thus recognized as an establishment which fights against dropping out of school, ”he adds.
